Base Games

This is where it all started, and where the journey still starts for people new to the game.
The base game of Carcassonne has gone through three main editions so far:
C1, the first art, was originally released in the year 2000, with art from Doris Matthäus.
C2, the follow-up, came about in 2014. It saw a big change in the art style, provided by Anne Pätzke.
C3, the relaunch, was released in 2021. Here there were smaller changes to the art, drawn by Marcel Gröber
As the game has been released in many different languages, in this section we look at the different releases that the Museum houses. If you’re not sure which release you have, have a look here to find out!
Large Expansions
Soon after the base game, expansions to the game became a staple for the franchise. There have been 10 large & numbered expansions so far, many in all different art styles. Find the different large and boxed expansions here!
Small Expansions
Mini-expansions have been very popular for the game from the start! There are so many, that often people lose count of the exact number of mini-expansions available. Let’s have a look at them here!
Compilation Editions
With base games and expansions being so widely available, many bundles of these have been released. We’ve got a few, so let’s explore!
Spin-offs

Keeping with the original tile-laying mechanic, there have been many spin-off games. Not set in the Carcassonne world, but still part of the Carcassonne family. Each spin-off has its own theme, with some amazing results!
Maps

In 2019, we got something very new to the game! Game maps, in the shape of several different countries. These maps have tile grids on them, and have bonuses available, unique to each map!
Accessories

There is more to the world of Carcassonne than just new tiles. Many different accessories have been made over the years and, of course, we have quite a few in our Museum collection! These can be a great addition to any game!
Electronic Editions

This board game even has seen many electronic editions of the game! Even though most are online and digital only, there are some that were released on CD/DVD and, of course, we have some!
Memorabilia

Apart from the game itself, The Carcassonne Museum also houses many memorabilia. Big and small, these are not for direct use in the game, but expand the Carcassonne universe nonetheless!
Fan Creations

With such a large and active fandom, it was only a matter of time before fans would start to make their own additions or accessories for the game. Throughout the years, we’ve received quite a few of those! See them here!
