About the Curator
Willem
Willem is the founder, curator, and driving force behind the Carcassonne Museum. He started getting into the game in mid-2016 and has not stopped collecting since.
Thanks to the amazing fan community of the Carcassonne game, Willem has learned a lot about the different releases and publisher specifics, and he has made many friends along the way. These new connections have helped Willem in collecting more and more different editions of the game, and he is showing no sign of slowing down!
Although Willem runs the Museum, he likes to see it as a community project. With so many people helping out, it is not just him behind it all. He just gets to house all these games. 😉

How the Museum got started
It all started with a single box…
Having been familiar with the game, Willem started collecting for it from mid-2016 onwards. The modular setup of the game, and how each play of the game is different, really spoke to him, and he soon started to connect with other fans of the game.
Having collected all the different expansions, all the spin-offs, and quite a few special editions, Willem started to pick up some more games and expansions here and there. First looking at editions of the base game from other countries, throughout 2020 this started a bigger trend. Soon, Willem picked up more editions that he found interesting and showed interest in the small differences between releases.
Across some parts of the international fan community, his collection was jokingly referred to as a museum, which started an idea… Not seeing much easily accessible information about the complete history of the game, Willem started an Instagram account, sharing posts with pictures and explanations of the different editions. The collection grew, and with it the Carcassonne Museum!
