Cutcassonne

First introduced at Spiel 2014 in Essen, this box was later also used for the annual Advent promotions, containing a variety of different expansions, extra meeple sets, cards, etc. What makes this box extra nice, is the inclusion of Cutcassonne: ten print-and-play tiles on the bottom of the box, that you can cut out and glue onto blank tiles.

Demo Game

In 2015, the Carcassonne Demo Game was made, to help promote the game to new players. This was released by 999 Games in their 25th anniversary box, as well as by Hans im Glück at Essen. Later, even Swan Panasia made a Chinese language version!

Meeple Gummies

Carcassonne in aller munde are little bags of meeple-shaped jelly candy!
These were given away at the Spiel convention in Essen, starting from 2005, and being repeated on and off until 2015.

Button text

Meeple Candles

These meeple candles are a fun little addition to any Carcassonne collection, and of course have a nice space in the Carcassonne Museum! They are available in five colours, so you can collect them all, and they can help lighten up a big game night!

The Count Shop Display

The Count of Carcassonne was released in 2003 as a boxed mini-expansion. To help stores with the presentation of these little boxes, a shop display was provided along with the minis.

This display fits up to 32 copies of the Count of Carcassonne mini-expansion, and can be folded closed for easy storage and transport.

Button text

King & Scout Shop Display

The King & Scout mini-expansion was a small boxed mini, with tiles for both the Carcassonne game, and for the Hunters & Gatherers spin-off! To help stores with the presentation of these little boxes, a shop display was provided along with the minis.

This display fits up to 48 copies of the King & Scout mini-expansion, and can be folded closed for easy storage and transport.

Phantom Shop Display

The Phantom was released in small, meeple-shaped boxes, in 6 different colours. They were sold in shops, in a shop display, which would house 8 sets of 6 boxes. Buyers could pick their colour, and be happy with their (small) purchase.

We acquired a full, sealed shop display a while back. Brand new, containing 48 meeple-shaped boxes. But it is closed, sealed. You can’t see the boxes. Luckily, we were also gifted an empty shop display! Of course, we have to make good use of it, so we decided to fill it up a bit.

Button text

Mini Shop Display

This display was made by Lautapelit, and used in shops to store and display the minis for sale. We’ve been collecting different sets of these minis as well throughout the years, so we are on our way to filling this one up!

Dice Game Shop Display

As part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations for the Carcassonne game, not only new mini-expansions were released, but also some new spin-offs! One of these was the Carcassonne Dice Game, a Carcassonne-inspired game played with dice.

It came in a box, shaped like a meeple, and what would be best to sell this in a shop, other than a nice shop display?! This display can hold 18 tins of the Carcassonne Dice Game.

City of Carcassonne Heritage Box

During our trip to the City of Carcassonne in 2022, we found the perfect solution to store our C3 travel set! They had these little wooden boxes available. At first glance, they are very simple: a small wooden box, with a slide-out lid, potentially for storing some small bits and pieces, whatever you like.

Once back in our workshop, we fitted it with an inlay taken from an actual Carcassonne game, which allows for easier storage of the tiles and the meeple separated. This little box is very special, as it will always remind us of our first trip to Carcassonne.

First Edition Coasters

When you’re playing your game of Carcassonne, you’ll often want to enjoy a tasty beverage. But where to put it? Well, on your Carcassonne Coasters of course! Coastersonne was released in different sets by Hans im Glück, and allow for a safe place to place your drink.

Button text

Second Edition Coasters

With the change in the Carcassonne artwork from the original C1, to the newer C2, of course the CarcaCoasters couldn’t stay behind! There are 6 sets of 6 coasters, covering a wide range of different tiles from different expansions: the River, Hills & Sheep, Shrines & Heretics, Bazaars, Dragon volcanoes, and more!

With the launch of the C2 CarcaCoasters, Cundco.de also made these Big Meeple available! These meeple are a lot bigger than the usual Carcassonne meeple, and are a perfect fit for the CarcaCoasters! Available in 11 colours, the addition of these Big Meeple make it possible to play a big game of Carcassonne!

Russian Coasters

Together with the first set of Russian Promo tiles, back in 2013, HobbyWorld also released a set of coasters! These coasters came in sets of 3, and depict the scene from the tile of The Choice of Bogatyr.

The folktale hero of Bogatyr has come to a crossroads. He sees a stone, stating Go to the left, and you will find death. Go to the right, and you will lose your horse. Go straight, and you will lose yourself.

10th Anniversary Tote Bag

These bags started showing up in the early 2010s, from what we’ve been able to find, and several different designs have been made over the years!

This one is specifically to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Carcassonne game. The 10th Anniversary was celebrated with several different new releases and promos. The 10th Anniversary edition of course, but also the Dice Game and Phantoms were released around this time.

Sleep, Eat, Play Tote Bag

This bag outlines the standard schedule in the Museum. Sleep, Eat, Play, Repeat!

This bag has made its way to many people’s houses by now, and the mantra of Sleep, Eat, Play, Repeat are words to live by.

Schwein gehabt? Tote Bag

Schwein gehabt is a German way of saying that someone had some great luck in something. In the game of Carcassonne, luck does play a role! You can calculate your chances by counting which tiles have already been played, and knowing what is left to be played.

However, there is always a bit of luck involved in which tile you will get for you next turn(s). Schwein gehabt can be very applicable in a game of Carcassonne, as you always hope the tiles will go your way and you get that 1 tile left to finish your big road, city, monestary or any other feature.

Three Meeples Tote Bag

This version of the tote bag might be one of the rarer ones, which can be quite tricky to find! This may have been the first design of the tote bags to have been made by Hans im Glück!

A simple, but beautiful design, showing 3 meeple under the title of our favourite game. The back of the bag is the same as the 10th Anniversary bag, showing the Hans im Glück logo.

Button text

Do Meeple Dream of Wooden Sheep? Tote Bag

This design of the tote bags is the most recent in our collection. It was only made by Hans im Glück a few years ago, and we love the design! The psychedelic meeple on the one side, and a philosophical question on the other.

The philosophical question is a reference to the Philip K. Dick short story, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”

2018 Japan Championship Tote

Mama Mobius is known on Twitter for her many tweets, and her guidance for many Carcassonne players in Japan. We were very honoured to meet her at Spiel 2022, and share our story and pictures of our Museum with her.

When we were talking with her, she went to her bag and gave us this! A tote bag that Mobius made for the 2018 Japanese Carcassonne Championship!

Carcassonne Snow Globe

Yes, we have an actual Carcassonne Snow Globe in our Museum! But be honest with yourself, who doesn’t like a small snow globe of the city of Carcassonne?! It fits well on the table while playing a game of Winter Edition.

The base of the globe shows some of the city walls, and some knights on their way to the gate. Within the globe, we see a small castle in the iconic medieval style of Carcassonne, which just becomes even more amazing once the snow falls down on it!

Sticker Sheet 1

A lot of gamers like to show that they are gamers. You often see stickers on gaming laptops, or on PC’s, and often even the gaming dens are decorated with stickers from different games.

Carcassonne is no different! You can decorate your game box, laptop, den, or whatever you want, with these stickers! Add them to your favourite box to show you are the ultimate (board)gamer!

Button text

Sticker Sheet 2

What is better than stickers? More stickers!

These stickers are a bit bigger. We love the different sticker designs, showing quite a few new options to decorate your door, your favourite Carcassonne box, or even your windows!

Button text

Meeple on Board Stickers

How can I let people know I’m transporting precious Carcassonne boxes in the car?!
Well now you can! Meeple on board, it says it all! Show off that you know what is important to bring with you, when you are driving along the road!

You can pick between the blue or the pink meeple, but they do count for any colour meeple you have on board.

This Game Belongs To…

At every meet-up you go to, at the end of the day, there is a big struggle to determine which game belongs to who?! This can be fixed in a jiffy now! Just use these stickers to mark your boxes, so it is clear to everyone which boxes will come home with you!

First Edition Demo Magazine

Mindok, the publisher for Polish, Czech and Slovak languages, had made this demo version of the game many years ago, and included it in some C1 base games.

The idea is simple, just cut out the tiles in the little magazine, and you can try out the game. The rules are explained in a quick, simple way, and you don’t need much to get going!

Button text

Second Edition Demo Magazine

Mindok also made a C2 demo magazine! Cut out the 48 tiles from the magazine, read the rules outlined on the other side, and you are good to go! Again, this little magazine was given out with some of the base games, and made for a nice way of demonstrating the game to new players!

Print-and-Play Demo

A free print-and-play demo version of the Carcassonne game was released in 2020, as part of the Hans im Glück Quarantine Kit! Different-coloured pieces will need to be sourced by the player, but the tiles and even a scoretrack are available to print.

However, in quarantine it might be tricky to find other people to play with, so HiG also shared a Solo Variant for Carcassonne!

Tabletop Gaming Magazine
Issue 10/2020

Tabletop Gaming magazine had dedicated the cover of the October 2020 issue, as well as a 6-page article, about the 20th anniversary of Carcassonne! Tabletop Gaming often have different covers for their subscriber editions, which was also the case with this issue.

The article in the magazine talks briefly about the history of the game through its 20 years. It also has a quick overview of the 10 different major expansions released, and even a column about the Book of Carcassonne!

20th Anniversary Signed Box Art

When the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Carcassonne game was being developed, the box was a big focus! It needs to be something that stands out, something special… So when the design was finalised, it of course would also need approval from none other than Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, the original creator of the Carcassonne game!

Mr. Wrede was sent 5 print proofs of the box art, to review and approve.
He signed and numbered all 5 of them, and 3 of them made their way to a very active member of the German Carcassonne-Forum, to be shared with the fans. In the wake of recent developments at the time, it was decided that these would be made available in an auction, with the proceeds going to a charity supporting refugees from Ukraine.  We were lucky enough to win this print proof, number 2 out of 5!

City of Carcassonne Model

We brought back this model of the city when we visited the city of Carcassonne in April 2022, and it looks better every time we look at it! The representation of the city is very accurate, including the famous gate we all know and love from the original box art!

Looking at this model reminds us of our visit to the old city, walking around the streets, and just loving the moment.

Button text

Carcassonne Currency

Available in both notes and coins, these are just a nice addition for people who are interested in anything related to Carcassonne!

For anyone who is into collecting (old) coins, as well as the Carcassonne game, this is a great thing to look out for!

Button text

Meeple Magnets

These have been around for a long time, but it took quite a while for them to be added to our Museum!

Magnetic meeple, handy as decoration or for your magnetic Carcassonne! These are bigger than the regular meeple, but a meeple is a meeple after all!

Button text

Meeple Pillow

The Meeple pillow was released around October 2011 in 2 colours: yellow and blue.

Thanks to Challa007, who not only found this pillow, but also went to pick it up and shared the story of the Carcassonne Museum with the seller, who turned out to have worked at Hans im Glück!

We are so happy to have added this pillow to our collection, and have another great story to go with it! Stories like these really make the Museum the special place it is. (at least to us)

Button text

Meeple Lapel Pins

In 6 colours, these pins allow you to represent your meeple colour during your games, or anywhere you go really!

Button text

Hans im Glück Lapel Pins

These two pins came from someone who used to work at Hans im Glück. The older one shows the pig rider in full, with the company name underneath. The newer one shows the logo we came to know from all our Carcassonne boxes! That newer logo got further updated in 2009, but for this pin it doesn’t make much of a difference.

A nice little piece of company history, and we were very excited to add these to our collection. A massive thanks once again to Challa007 for finding these and generously gifting them to the Museum!
