Hills & Sheep
First Edition
First released: 2014
If you draw a tile with a hill, you place another tile from the stack/bag/tower facedown underneath it, creating a hill in the landscape. If there is a tie in the majority of meeples on a feature, whoever has a meeple on a hill wins the tie. If multiple players have meeples on hills in the same features, the tie remains. Apart from an interesting way to break ties, this also brought something that could mess up tile counters. By having an unknown tile underneath the hill, you wouldn’t know what tiles are left in the game.
Sheep were introduced, together with a shepherd. If you don’t place a meeple during your turn, you may place your shepherd on the field of that tile. Then, every time you expand the field your shepherd is in, you may decide to try and expand your flock or bring them all in. Expanding the flock is done by drawing a sheep token from a nice little bag, with 1 to 4 sheep per token. But beware, because there are wolves in there as well, and if you grab one, you lose your entire flock! If you bring your flock in, you get 1 point per sheep on the tokens, the tokens go back in the bag and the shepherd goes back into your supply.
And let’s not forget the vineyards. Any vineyard placed in the 8 surrounding tiles of a monastery will give 3 extra points upon completion.
