On first glance, this seems like another clean adaptation of the German release. However, the back of the box begs to differ (just a bit). Where we otherwise see a small picture of the base game and a warning that the base game is required to play this, 999 Games decided to make it a bigger textbox to draw more attention to it. It also calls out that if you want to play this expansion with 6 players, the first expansion will also be required.

Added interesting call out; in the warning text it states it can only be played with the Carcassonne base game, including the base game from before 2016. Now, the first time they’ve released a C2 base game was in 2015…. Perhaps it was late in the year, and they assumed 2016 would work better? Also, the base game shown is their second edition, which would not be released until 2019!
