No boxes were physically harmed in the making of this comparison.
You’ll find that all pictures on this site are pictures of actual boxes in our collection. We believe we have every version of the Second Edition base game of Carcassonne in the Dutch language. If you are not sure which box you have, have a look below or contact us and we’ll be able to tell you!
999 Games, first printing
2015

Carcassonne remains very popular in the Netherlands and Belgium, so it was not long before 999 Games released their first printing of the C2 art style. Following the German box design, 999 Games swapped their logo for that of HiG, and included their signature banner on the back of the box. This includes their assessment of the luck, planning, and tactics required for the game.

Although the back of the box follows other language releases with a cleaner look, 999 Games was unique with their update to the front of the box. No Spiel des Jahres logo, no banner showing 12 million games and expansions sold. Even the box showing that the River and Abbot expansions are included was no longer included. These mini-expansions are included in the box, but it is only mentioned on the back of the box.
