No boxes were physically harmed in the making of this comparison.

You’ll find that all pictures on this site are pictures of actual boxes in our collection. We are still missing one box in the Danish/Swedish/Norwegian languages, but we hope to fill this gap soon! If you can help with that, please contact us. If you are not sure which box you have, have a look below or contact us and we’ll be able to tell you!

Midgaard Games, first printing

2001

A quick release after the initial success of the game; Midgaard Games released a version of the game in Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish in late 2001. The box design follows the first/second printing of the game in German, showing the robber on the front of the box. But the contents of the box are closer to the second printing, as it has the grey 50-point score track.

The absolute coolest thing about this box must be the publisher’s logo. A dragon before dragons were a thing in the world of Carcassonne! We have to thank our friend Lars from Sweden, for finding this one and sending it over to have a place in the Museum!

Bergsala Enigma, first printing

2003

We do not currently have a copy from this printing in our collection. If you have one that you would like to donate or sell, please contact us.

Bergsala Enigma, second printing

2013

It was in late 2013, early 2014 that we saw quite a few publishers release a new printing of the base game. This was also the case for Bergsala Enigma, who released their second printing. It followed the redesign, with the blue background for the ‘C’, the row of meeple at the top, and updated example landscape on the back of the box. The sides of the box see some nice decorations as well!
