No boxes were physically harmed in the making of this comparison.

You’ll find that all pictures on this site are pictures of actual boxes in our collection. We are still missing a few boxes in the Estonian / Latvian / Lithuanian / Russian language, but we hope to fill these gaps soon! If you can help with that, please contact us. If you are not sure which box you have, have a look below or contact us and we’ll be able to tell you!

Brain Games, first printing

2005

We do not currently have a copy from this printing in our collection. If you have one that you would like to donate or sell, please contact us.

Brain Games, second printing

2008

Being distributed in several Baltic countries, local publisher Brain Games released the game of Carcassonne in 4 languages! Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, and Russian language rules were included in this box!

This made it necessary for their edition to have a bigger text box on the back, so they could include a brief description of the game in all 4 languages. On the front of the box, a unique text box is found with a wreath, detailing the winning of the Spiel des Jahres in 2001. This second printing included the River expansion, which the first printing did not.

We received this box as a gift from a friend in Lithuania. We weren’t expecting it, so we loved it when we got to open this box!

Brain Games, third printing

2011

On the front of the box, a unique text box is found with a wreath, detailing the winning of the Spiel des Jahres in 2001. Where the second printing included the River expansion, the third printing did not, and the box was made the same as their first printing.

Brain Games, fourth printing

2012

We do not currently have a copy from this printing in our collection. If you have one that you would like to donate or sell, please contact us.

Brain Games, fifth printing

2013

The fifth printing of the C1 base game was the first time that publisher Brain Games put their box design in line with that of other publishers/languages.

We see the more detailed front box art, with the line of meeple at the top and a faintly smiling horse! On the back, there is still a bigger text box, to allow for text in all 4 languages that this game covers!
